PERSONAL FALL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT INSPECTOR COURSE (PFPEI)

Course Overview

The aim of the course is to provide course participants with the requisite knowledge on the work at height, capability to conduct pre-use and annual fall protection equipment inspection, knowledge on equipment maintenance, storage and servicing.

Course Content

  • Introduction to Work-at-Height.
  • Work At Height Legislations.
  • Introduction to different PPE.
  • Regulations specific to the Inspection of PPE.
  • Common wear and tear, lifespan and expiry dates of PPE.

Assumed Skills and Knowledge

  • All personnel interested in additional experience inspecting personal fall protection equipment.
  • The typical participant is responsible for the care, marking and maintenance of equipement

Entry Requirement

Learners are assumed to

  • Workplace literacy and numeracy Level 4 under Employability Skills System (ESS) or equivalent.
  • Work at height course for Supervisors.

Requirements to be a trainer and assessor for this course

  • Domain qualification: The trainer/assessor must be a domain subject matter expert, possess a WSQ-Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety & Health (WSH Professional Level B)
  • Domain work experience: The trainer/assessor must possess a minimum of five years’ relevant experience in subject matter.
  • WSQ trainer/assessor pedagogic requirement: The trainer/assessor must have attained a WSQ Advanced Certificate in Training & Assessment (ACTA) or Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) or Diploma in Adult Continuing Education (DACE) or Diploma in Design and Development of Learning for Performance (DDDLP).
  • WSQ trainer/assessor experience: The trainer/assessor should preferably possess a minimum of one year of training experience.
  • All adult educators are required to attain 10 hours (minimum) annually by attending Continuing Professional and Development (CPD) courses conducted by appointed training providers.
  • The trainer for the course is not permitted to be the assessor for the same course learners during the assessment.
